Joyeuse is the Princess of Hiltshire and daughter of King Hilton.

A laid back, happy go lucky adventurer, Joyeuse never held strong aspirations for the throne, always knowing that her older brother Parry was next in line.

She was given one of the godswords, Bograk's Hook, at the age of 5, and lost it at the age of 19, during the XXVth Annual Swor'nament. She was never able to tap into its true power and become its Champion.

During the Swor'nament, she became friends with Harpe, the Barbarian Princess. Their fathers were the Kings of two warring Kingdoms, but if anything, that brought them closer together. Joyeuse accompanied Harpe to investigate the injury of the Lake Monster and after returning to her Kingdom, discovered that her father had been killed and her brother was the new King.

Joyeuse fought and defeated King Parry, becoming the new Queen of Hiltshire. After the Demon of Boundless Hunger escaped in King Xiphos' body, she pursued with the Boredsword and used it to seal away the Demon King temporarily.

After losing in the Swor'nament, Joyeuse also lost her status as Queen, resulting in Rapier Tapir becoming the new King of Hiltshire. Joyeuse set out on a journey of self discovery and to assist Harpe on her quest to retrieve the Lake Monsters stolen godsword.
